Goodish

An update.....

I saw Dr. kohli today for an update on my knee as all the information previously that I had received was from his PA, Eric. The concerns I had about having a knee replacement at a young age knowing that a new knee would not survive my life and that they can only do one more replacement for a total of two due to scar tissue scared me.  Dr. Kohli had been talking about that for quite some time and how alternately I would end up in a wheelchair and that was concerning and part of the major, or rather minor breakdown, I had yesterday.

Eric said it was time for a knee replacement but Dr. Kohli feels differently And he feels that a second ACL reconstruction is more prudent and warranted and looks like I'm going that route on April 15th. I just need to see hematology doctor, Dr. Treisman, and see what he thinks about survival rates of the surgery because that was another very real concern of mine. Dr. Kohli said the stroke risk is a very real concern  for me and he would not do the surgery without clearance from someone who says that they think that I can come out okay. Dr. Kohli said not only the reality that a stroke could kill me but the reality that it could be completely disabling are things that I need to be aware of and considering.  This surgery could potentially be a life-changing one and get me another 10 years before my knee does definitely have to be replaced that's not an if anymore, but definitely a when, but he thinks that I can put it off a little while longer so this is "goodish" news; not good not bad. When life hands you lemons, make lemonade even if it only tastes "goodish". You never know, tomorrow it may taste better.
